Healthy Plants for Healthy Living

Living in the desert USA. I realize that I cannot have my doors and windows open 24/7 to circulate air. Of course during pollen season and dust storms, I wouldn't keep them open too often during spring and summer so I have to remember to have a green thumb. There are plants that can benefit our homes by improving our air quality.

The following plants are effective in removing benzene, formaldehyde and trichlorethylene from indoor air. (Now do I have a green thumb for this?)

Gerbera jamesonii (Gerbera daisy)

Chrysanthemum morifolium (Pot or florists mum)

Hedera helix (English Ivy)

Sansevieria trifasciata (Mother-in-law’s tongue)

Dracaena deremensis (variety "Warneckei", "Janet Craig", "Bausei", "Longii")

Dracaena marginata

Spathiphyllum araceae (Peace Lily)

Aglaonema modestum (Chinese evergreen)

Chamaedorea seifrizii (Bamboo palm)
