Okay, so I went to bed late last night because I drank a cup of Organic Earl Grey Tea at 10pm. I knew better but I wanted something warm because it was cold in the house. I guess that was my first mistake. I can handle Earl Grey before 6pm at night. It doesn't seem to bother me chemically in any way. The caffeine at 10pm was another story. I think I finally was able to go to sleep about 1am. Tonight, I am drinking Yogi Tea Kava Stress Relief to calm the mind. We will see if my mind starts calming. Now onto the second mistake I made before going to bed, I turned the heat on. Even set the heat to 69 degrees. We have natural gas heat in the desert and when it comes on in the winter we get sick. I get dizzy, edgy and forgetful not to mention I wake up at 4am (Insomnia has set in. Nothing to do but watch infomercials to relax the mind. Of course I get sucked into one of them. I won't even tell you what I bought at 4am, if it works I will share it, if it is a scam I will share that too. I have to evaluate the product firts. I will tell you one thing it has to do with getting into shape. My favorite post New Year's till the end of summer regime. I always get back into shape for the summer. I like to eat in the fall and winter (something about hibernating and storing fat) so it takes a little bit of work to feel good about putting on a bathing suit. So enough about the 4am thing. I was up for the duration and I am still up now-10pm. I have no edge, no headache, no dizziness--just some neck pain and blurry vision and of course it is hard to remember things. Tonight, though, I will not be putting on the heat. Even with the cold front coming in. We will just have to stay snuggly in our flannel sheets and flannel PJ's. (romantic, isn't it? :) I do have to say that last year at this time, I had excruciating headaches from the natural gas. This year, not so much. (we use the heat minimally to avoid our symptoms) I took my 5000mg of Vit C, my chelate magnesium, calcium and zinc, with my multivitamin later. I also take 400iu of VitD. Alan and I went for a 30 minute walk this morning to escape the natural gas and opened the doors when we got home. I took time out to play basketball with Alan and Ryan for about an hour yesterday Adding exercise and supplements to my life has greatly reduced a lot of my MCS symptoms. It has reduced a lot of my families symptoms but if we don't follow our regime sickness comes back in a flash and we are back to square one.
Thanks for reading dear readers~ Hope you have a beautiful day :)
*Note to self--change to electric heat by next winter :)*

Hello Anna and Happy New Year!
Wow that doesn't sound so good with the natural gas. I take it there is almost a "leak" or the heater is not burning it that efficiently if you are getting such obvious symptoms - unless you are just reaction to the burned gas itself?
Either way it does not sound good to have to go through that.
As for the tea - well that is an easy one to solve, I only stick to herbal teas (all caffeine free) as I just do not want any caffeine in the body. You know many people especially coffee drinkers "need" it so much but the truth is that above and beyond anything it distorts one's energy levels and I do not want to mess with that as it feels great to have stable energy all day.
Anyhow I hope you have a better night's sleep tonight :)
I'm wondering if your furnace isn't completely and properly sealed. Maybe a professional could check it out because I'm thinking to fix what you've got would be a lot cheaper than a whole new furnace - but only if it actually needs sealing.
I can't be around gas fireplaces but can be over at a friend's house who has properly installed gas heat and I have no problem.
It's so awesome to hear that this year is better than last reaction-wise. I also find that my symptoms are greatly reduced when I stick to my supplement regime. I am terrible at exercising and hope that is something I'll do more this year!
Thank-you all for the advice. It has been checked and it isn't a leak we are terribly reactive to natural gas. We have alot of gas fireplace but cannot use them for the same reason. There is no smell in the home and the units are outside the house in our storage areas so I don't even think a gas leak would enter our home. But what do I know. I just know that gas heat always affects us. Where ever we are. At least we know what it is. It took along time to realize that was one of the chemicals that affects us adversely. Have a beautiful day.
Anna
I noticed that you use 400 iu of vitamin D daily. That level was not found to produce a healthy blood level in a large clinical follow up of people treated for vitamin D deficiencies. 10 minutes of sun on your face and arms will produce more than 10,000 iu of vitamin D in your skin. I take 1000 iu/day, and that is closer to the new recommendations. I would say that if you have sun, use it.
